About This Outpost
Reviews & Reputation
Moose Point Lodge on Shikag Lake in Ontario enjoys an exceptionally strong reputation among its guests, many of whom have been returning annually for decades. The reviews reflect deep loyalty and genuine affection for the lodge, with guests consistently describing it as a place that feels like a second home. Owners Brad and Donna are mentioned by name as central to that welcoming atmosphere. The overall sentiment across all reviews is overwhelmingly positive, with no notable complaints raised.
Guests consistently praise the fishing above all else, with walleye being the standout draw. Reviewers report catching trophy-sized walleye regularly — including fish in the 27- to 32-inch range — and credit the lodge's catch-and-release practices for improving the fishery over time. Smallmouth bass and northern pike round out the options on Shikag Lake, though at least one group noted they wished they had spent more time targeting pike given how good the walleye fishing was. Guides are described as knowledgeable and effective at putting guests on fish. The shore lunch prepared from the day's catch receives particular enthusiasm. Accommodations are described as clean, comfortable, and far from rustic, and the food overall is called top notch.
There are no recurring complaints in these reviews. Every reviewer rates the experience at the highest level and several have returned for eight, twenty, or even forty-plus years. Based on what guests describe, this destination is best suited for walleye anglers of any experience level, including first-time fly-in visitors, groups of friends or family, and those looking to introduce younger anglers to fishing. The comfortable accommodations and quality food also make it a reasonable choice for guests who want a remote fishing experience without roughing it.
